New Methodist Hymn Book - Singing The Faith

As many of our readers will know the Methodist Church is in the process of introducing yet another new hymn book titled "Singing the Faith".

Due to be available in September 2011 there will be a variety of editions from words only to full musical and large print, with prices ranging from £7.50 to £25.00.

Whilst this new book has been authorised by the Methodist Church for use in services, we have no doubt that many churches will continue to use Hymns & Psalms for the foreseeable future - as happened when Hymns & Psalms replaced the Methodist Hymn Book.

Many old favourites are included in the new book together with a selection from Mission Praise and Songs of Fellowship, and a fair number of completely new songs and hymns by modern authors.

As the Singing the Faith web site states it "Embodies the breadth and depth of Methodist theology today. Brings together in one place a rich diversity of music styles and traditions. Carefully balances classic and contemporary styles with the balance in favour of hymns (ancient and modern) to support congregational singing and personal prayer. Contains over one hundred new arrangements and tunes to assist musicians of varying abilities. Encompasses an array of topics and themes, arranged within sections according to Christian experience."
